Browse Apple artwork with ThemePark
October 16, 2008
Ever wanted to browse the artwork Apple uses in OS X? How about the art in iTunes 8? Then ThemePark is tool the tool for you. ThemePark lets you explore Apple’s .rsrc file format. You’ll find OS X’s Extras.rsrc file (the main artwork file) here:
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/Resources/
and the iTunes.rsrc here:
/Applications/iTunes/Contents/Resources/iTunes.rsrc
I had thought that OS X 10.5 was using vector based graphics, but apparently, as of OS X 10.5.5, it is still using mostly bitmapped based artwork. If your interested in the new vector based artwork, check out the links below which describe the new vector art files:
I love this stuff.
